2019 Muskegon ChannelCats Frequently Asked Questions

The Muskegon ChannelCats will take the field for our 22nd season in 2019. Learn more about what's in store for the upcoming year below.

What is the Muskegon ChannelCats mission?

The Muskegon ChannelCats manage select travel baseball teams from Muskegon, Michigan and along the Lakeshore. The ChannelCats give youth baseball players the opportunity to build a solid foundation of fundamental skills, learn the value of teamwork, and, most importantly, have fun playing the game of baseball.

What's in store for next season?

Head coaches will be selected and players will be invited to be part of teams in July. We will have an informational meeting and begin practice inside in January. Each team will play in 4-6 tournaments next year. Older age groups may play league games as well. The season will wrap up around July 1, 2019 for the 9U-12U teams and August 1 for 13U-15U.

What about rec ball?

The more baseball the better. Anyone who wants to play rec ball will have the chance to do so.

What is the cost to play for the ChannelCats?

The cost for the 2019 season will be $400-$800 depending on the team. Payment is due by September 1, 2018. Payment in full must be received before a player begins practice.

How many teams will the ChannelCats field in 2019?

We will be fielding 5-8 teams of players ages 9-15 in 2019.

When do teams practice?

Practice begins inside in January at area high schools and Shoreline Sports Academy. Practices are held throughout the week during the offseason and last 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Some teams hold workouts during the week as well during the winter and outside in the spring.

How do you select tournaments?

Our head coaches select the tournaments we play. We concentrate on tournaments that take place in May-July avoiding holiday weekends when possible. Our plan is to have teams play in the same tournaments as much as possible.

How can I play for the ChannelCats?

When will I know if my player made a ChannelCats team?
